Handsome kakejiku 掛け軸 (hanging scroll) from Japan with imagery of a sumitsubo 墨つぼ (ink line used in carpentry). Striking use of negative space. Signed 益田蘆湖. There is one red stamped seal. The mounting of the scroll includes two types of silk brocades in golds and blues.
