Giant paper flower sculpting
with Dragonfly Hill Studio

Join artist/illustrator and cofounder of Open Eye Art, Jennifer Winship Mark for this 5-hour workshop at Cargo and learn the art of giant paper flower sculpting. Jennifer will guide students through the process of cutting, shaping, coloring and constructing using Cargo’s amazing & versatile Italian crepe papers. Join Jennifer for a fun afternoon that is perfect for seasoned artists as well as art dabblers. Say “yes” to creating a stunning 14” Peace Rose “headress/wall sculpture”. A fun work of art you can both wear on your head & enjoy on your wall! Students will learn all the basic tricks and skills to craft any size rose, leaf and stem. You will leave with your finished flower and the templates, know how and instructions for making more flowers at home. All materials and delicious local refreshments will be included. Students will have a lunch break in order to wander Cargo & all the great local restaurants. Skills students will learn: How to color realistic individual flower petals and leaves. How to determine the best paper types, textures and colors for any flower. How to construct sturdy supports for giant flowers so they can be displayed, worn or free stand. How to utilize local resources and discover interesting everyday recycled objects for adding to your flower sculpting tool box. How to choose the best glues, paints, papers and dyes for various projects How to manipulate and form different papers, crepe papers and floral supplies How to truly appreciate flowers on a botanical and “engineering level.
