Sakiori Farmer's Coat

Sakiori Farmer's Coat
$1,200.00
Beautiful indigo farmer’s coat. The material is cotton sakiori, a method introduced as a means of conservation. With cotton a limited and valuable resource to the general public, nothing was ever wasted. Because of this, unwearable garments and rags would be cut into thin strips and woven together creating a new fabric which could then be used for a new garment. This item can be worn as a jacket or hung on the wall as a beautiful piece for admiration.
*This lovely antique piece shows wear consistent with age and use.
