Vietnamese Santo, Cecilia

The practice of creating Santos began in Spain. Religious images were commonly decorated in ornate religious clothing. Today Santos remain a living tradition of religious iconography and folk art in Mexico, Philippines, Vietnam and other countries.

Saint Cecilia was a Roman martyr venerated in Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and some Lutheran churches. She became the patroness of music and musicians, it being written that, as the musicians played at her wedding, Cecilia "sang in her heart to the Lord".
