Philippine Santos, Winged Cherubs

The practice of creating Santos began in Spain. Religious images were commonly decorated in ornate religious clothing. Today Santos  living tradition of religious iconography and folk art in Mexico, Philippines, Vietnam and other countries.

These carvings were made in the third generation Santo workshop of Nellie Enrique in Manila. Several years ago Nellie retired and closed the workshop, we feel very fortunate to have some of her work on hand!
