Ofrenda de Barro Workshop

Join artist and cultural leader Atzin Xomalli in a hands-on workshop where you will create your own ritual altar using terracotta clay. Inspired by the rich traditions of her hometown and the artistry of Metepec, Mexico—where life and death are celebrated with profound symbolism—Atzin guides participants in shaping clay into personal altars that honor memory, spirit, and transformation.  Through this creative process, you will explore the meaning of ritual, the connection to earth through terracotta’s natural tones, and the ways in which altars can hold space for reflection, remembrance, and celebration. Participants will leave with a clay altar that embodies their own stories and intentions, while also experiencing the cultural depth of Metepec’s artistry and traditions.
