Metal Weeds by Nancy

Last year I was invited to participate in a show, for which I made some weeds out of various metals.

I am lucky that I can open the door and walk out to a patio that is filled with plants and flowers. It has saved me from the confines of staying at home. Inspired again by nature, I made this collection of flowers and weeds which I fabricated out of copper sheet and wire.

While we have been in quarantine I spend a lot of time gardening and tinkering around in the yard. I have a studio set up in my garage, which is where I usually make jewelry and other objects.

I put a black patina on them, they look a little bit Victorian to me. Isolation has been interesting, yet I miss being with friends, family, co-workers, community.

I have missed Cargo with the busy atmosphere, the camaraderie of the people coming in each day, and the amazing visual experience that makes it so unique. I hope to see everyone soon. Please stay safe and healthy!
